Most countdowns end with a stack of presents under the Christmas tree, a wonderful family dinner or a peak at Santa Claus. This year, my holiday countdown lead you to my biggest life decision thus far.
A couple of years ago I never anticipated being where I am today. I use to make loads of money, work Monday to Friday and sit in an office chair day in and day out. I was overcome by fear and anxiety on a daily basis and really just felt like I was living to work. Don’t get me wrong, I am a hard worker and if I have true passion behind what I am working on, I can move mountains. Travelling is my passion and though it brings in very little money at the moment, I am happier than I have ever been. I have experienced the world around already and have met some of the most incredible people. I met the man of my dreams and fell in love with a country I never thought I would visit during my life on earth.
So where does that leave me? Well… I’m currently curled up in my bed at the gorgeous Melia Dusseldorf on behalf of one of my favourite tourism boards, Duesseldorf Tourismus and I am very excited to announce that Dusseldorf will be my new home! Not in the hotel of course, but we are on a search for our very own home!
I’M MOVING TO GERMANY INDEFINITELY AND SETTLING IN DUSSELDORF!!!
Though I do wish I could stay in this cozy bed at the Melia my entire life, there are places to be, people to see and more adventures to take on!
Settling in Dusseldorf will allow me to create the perfect base for my travelling adventures. For less than 20 Euros I can hop on a plane ride and spend the weekend in a country I have never seen before. I am and will always be Canadian, but I am so happy to be announcing my permanent move to Germany.
As the year is rolling to a quick end, I would like to thank every one of my readers, friends and family who have supported me through my adventures. You are the reason I continue to share my stories and create travel content for the world.
Thank you to the Melia Dusseldorf for hosting me over the holidays and to the Dusseldorf Tourism Board for being of great support through my Dusseldorf adventures. I am so happy and so proud to announce my move to Dusseldorf and cannot wait to bring you more travel content especially within my new city!
Jenna, your life is so inspiring and I wish you all the best for 2015. Can´t wait to meet you in Düsseldorf/Köln next year 🙂 xx Franzi
I’m so happy for you!! It looks like the fact makes you happy so that is the most important thing. I will keep you in mind if I ever come to Dusseldorf! Greetings and smiles from BG 😉
Congratulations, chicka!! So proud of you. 🙂
What made you guys change your mind about England?
Also; what’s the average plane ticket cost to get there and back…I wanna visit someday soon. 😉
Thank you! 🙂
We still have England in the works but at the moment Paul’s family isn’t doing very well and we want to be there to support them. Perhaps England is still in the plans for the future! 🙂
Average plane ticket… probably around $800 round trip, however I never fly for more than $600 or $700!
$600 is a bargain but I usually end up paying around $700!
<3 I would love to have you come for a visit!!
Interesting blogg! I will follow it! And you are heartily welcome to join our Canada meetups by KANADATREFF in Düsseldorf if you like! Anyway: You are not the only Canadian and our community may bring you together with Canada lovers and Canadians living in Germany!
Hi there Martin!
Thanks for your kind comment. I would love to join you all for a meetup! I have already attended a couple expat parties in the city just to make a few new friends. I will check it out online :). Thanks, Jenna
