Day 6: BazBus/Happy Hippo Lodge

September 10th, 2012

Happy Hippo Lodge

It was bitter sweet leaving Inkosana Lodge today, leaving the mountains, the homemade food and the cozy hostel that we called a resort.

We had our last shuttle with Edmund over to Winterton to be picked up by the Baz Bus this morning.

We had quite a long wait but it was EASY to make the best of it!

We stopped at a nice little coffee shop for lunch, picked up a few groceries (like the adapter for my international plug) and went to the post office.

One thing we noticed while being in the center of the South African culture is that everyone we speak to is so nice, friendly and welcoming, it really adds to your trip when people around you are pleasant.

The Baz Bus came with a full bus this time – very popular mode of transportation for backpackers – which made it easy and fun to make friends. Two backpackers we met at our first Baz Bus stop in ‘JoBurg’ were on route to Durban with us so we settled in at the Happy Hippo Lodge in Durban North and went down the street for some dinner.

Spur was the restaurant we chose with a nice African theme to it! We arrived rather late to do any excursions today but dinner and having time to blog was perfect. We have uploaded all of our photos and videos along the way from Soweto to Drakensberg via Facebook. Don’t forget to check it all out! Cheers!
