Day 32: The Backpack & The Old Biscuit Mill

October 6th, 2012

First of the trip: We actually decided to sleep in until 10:30am!

No, we didn’t go out last night, we’re just old ladies. Give us some credit, we went hard in Coffee Bay and Jeffrey’s Bay … BIG TIME! We didn’t plan anything today, decided to go with the flow.

To our excitement they have a food and craft market open every Saturday morning at The Old Biscuit Mill. So much delicious food, South African crafts and many amazing clothing shops! I ate the biggest gourmet sandwich I possibly could and embraced the fact that they actually use Grenadilla in lots of fruit smoothies here!

Old Biscuit Mill

Thank you Cape Town!

After we ate our lives away for the day, we decided to head back to the V&A Waterfront (where we went last night) and cruise along the shore. Seems we’re pretty good at creating our own Cape Town tour, some how we managed to stumble upon the best of Cape Town on our own.

What I expected to be a quiet waterfront, turned out to be this amazing shop central with restaurants, Victoria Wharf mall, markets, live music and talent EVERYWHERE! We kind of just stood there, looked up and and said “Shit! This is awesome!” A massive mall, too many food stores (I had to buy a chocolate mint sundae) and the best South African music we have ever heard – Live!

This group of men were outside of the Victoria Wharf Mall singing in an xylophone band and oh my goodness… This music just made you dance! I purchased one of their cd’s to bring home with me. These gentlemen can just brighten your day in a split second and have you dancing to the rhythm all day long.

Check out our photos on Facebook, it was a jammed packed day for creating it all on our own! We shopped around at the Cape Town Craft Market & Wellness Centre … Well more like ‘played’ around. Yoni and Sapir (our Israel friends) haven’t past the age of 10 when it comes to mindless children’s toys.

We also saw this amazing gigantic Coca-Cola man, took photo after photo, hit up a restaurant to make a nice fam jam dinner and relaxed at The Backpack all night. Which included food, shots, drinks, Shisha and playing our new CD on the bar stereo system – AMAZING!
