Basel Tourism can support you on your Basel journey in anyway you could imagine. More importantly, they can provide you some of the most incredible city tours with some of the most wonderful guides. One of the hardest things for me to decide is whether or not to pay for a guide while visiting different cities. What I’ve found through trail and error is that the best time to pay for a guided tour is when there is a lot more history than you can understand. Cities like Toronto and New York may not need guided tours. In cities like Heidelberg, Germany or Basel, Switzerland it is extremely beneficial and exciting to learn about the years of history that come alive through guided tours.

Our tour lasted two hours from 10:00am until 12:00pm and for the remainder of the day myself and my friend from Canada constantly found ourself bringing up points about the tour and discussing how wonderful our guide made it. We weren’t just walking the city listening to her talk, she guided us at a great pace through the city, took us in for free samples of Lackerlei and showed us how to make handmade paper out of clothing. The tour was interactive and informative at the same time.

When traveling I think it’s definitely a good idea to think twice about booking a guided tour. Some are far too overpriced to be worth it but others are affordable and incredible. While visiting Basel, I would highly recommend contacting the Basel Tourism board and booking a guided tour through the old city.

Here are just a couple places we visited during our city tour in Basel!
